My Wish List for our New Kitchen Extension
We have just submitted our planning application for our new kitchen extension. It will double the floor area of our existing space and will provide us with a large kitchen, dining and entertaining space. I can’t wait! I have created a wish list of all the elements that I hope to include in the design of our new space: A large island I love to cook so I would love to have a large island with a hob on it and bar stools on the other side. My kids are young now, but looking to the future, I can picture them perched on the stools doing their homework whilst I…

Spending Less on Big Buys
When it comes to saving money, we often focus on our smaller, everyday purchases. Food shopping, energy bills, self-care products – these are all places where you can save a great deal over time by scraping and finding the best deals to make use of. However, what about when it comes to bigger purchases in life? At some point, we all have to commit to these expenditures, whether it’s buying a house or a car, treating yourself to that once-in-a-lifetime holiday or refurbishing your kitchen. All these examples are ‘expensive’ outlays, and yet they’re part of living a fulfilled and happy life. So how can you save money on these…

Things to Look for in a Property when you Work From Home
Unprecedented numbers of us are now working from home either on a part time or full time basis. The BBC reports that home working is here to stay for the long run. I believe this is great news for workers in terms of our work/life balances – not having to commute cuts out a lot of stress from our lives, plus there is the added benefit of getting to spend more time with our families. On a personal level, having spent so much more time at home in general over the last seven months, it has made us really think about our own house and its suitability to being a…

Buying a property for the first time is a real milestone in a person’s life. There is something wonderful about having a place to call home, a place that’s yours to make exactly how you would like it. Is now a good time to get onto the property ladder? Marketwatch write that interest rates are falling, which is great news for buyers. However, they also note that property prices are rising. So if you wish to buy a home, don’t delay too long. It’s important to make sure you are able to afford the costs that come with home ownership, which broadly fall into the following categories: Mortgage This is…

My Blogging Journey (So Far)
How my blog began In June 2018, I hit ‘publish’ on my first blog post. I never thought in my wildest dreams thought that a) I would still be writing and b) that a little over two years later, over 10,000 people a month would be reading my content – truly mind blowing. What began as a fun hobby has turned into something much bigger and I am so proud of ‘past me’ for biting the bullet and going for it. When I started my blog, I was a lonely stay at home mum to a two year old and a one year old. Life was chaotic enough but I…

Blogtober
I have been tagged by Jupiter from Life with Jupiter and Dann and Claire St at Stapo’s Thrifty Life Hacks to take part in the Blogtober tag – thanks ladies! What’s your favorite fall scent? I’m not sure if this is the kind of answer the question is looking for but I love going for an evening walk and smelling the smoke from people’s chimneys or bonfires. I also love the change in the seasons as I get to wear my favourite perfume, this Tom Form Tobacco Vanille dupe. Do you prefer pumpkin pie or apple pie? Apple pie every time! What’s one autumn tradition you have? I’m not sure we really…

7 Reasons Why You Should Date a Gamer
I am quite a rare beast I think… I am a 35 year old, female, mum of two, gamer. I have been ever since I was little – I started on a ZX Spectrum and over the years I’ve owned a SNES, Playstations 1 to 3, a Wii, a Wii U and I currently play on a Playstation 4 and a Switch. My husband however, apart from the occasional game of FIFA, could not be less interested in video games. As a gamer, I thought it would be fun to compile a list of the top seven reasons why dating a gamer is awesome: 1. You can get involved too…

Are Robot Vacuums Worth It?
I bought a robot vacuum cleaner in February 2020: a Eufy RoboVac 11S Max. I didn’t want to write about my experience with a robot vacuum until I had lived with it and used it for a reasonable amount of time. So here I am, 7 months later, with my thoughts. Are robot vacuums worth it? Read on for my opinion… Why did I buy a robot vacuum? I have two kids and a dog (and a husband). The amount of hair, dust and crumbs that we can collectively produce in a day is astounding. Everyone has a chore that they absolutely hate. Well, mine is vacuuming. I had heard…

Dinosaur Parks in the UK: Top Places to Visit
My three year old son is dinosaur-mad. He could probably give a palaeontologist a good run for their money when it comes to dinosaur facts. As such, when we are planning days out, we have a particular interest in dinosaur parks in the UK. I’ve compiled a list below of the best dinosaur-themed days out in the UK. Often the dinosaur element is just a small part of a wider experience, whereas other places are 100% dinosaur focused. Either way, you’re sure to have a roarsome time at the below attractions! Covid-19: please check with the venue’s websites about up-to-date guidelines. You often have to book in advance before visiting…
