How To Give Your Car A Makeover

How To Give Your Car A Makeover

Most cars don’t actually suddenly get messy or worn out all at once, and when you really think about it, that’s probably why people don’t notice when things start to go a bit wrong, or look and feel a bit wrong. You’ll just get in it one day and realise that it’s filthy and cluttered and really could do with a bit of a makeover to get it looking like itself again – and to give you some pride back in it. With that in mind, here are some options to think about if you want to give your car that all-important makeover but aren’t quite sure where to start – keep reading to find out more.

Clearing Out The Obvious Things

To get started, the easiest and most effective option is just to get rid of anything in the car that’s not meant to be there. After all, it’s so easy to just throw things in the boot, back seat, or glove box, and then forget they’re there, and over time that’s really going to add up – it might not be until you’ve got to give someone a lift or transport something that needs a bit more space that you even notice the issue at all.

But when you empty it all out properly, you’ll usually discover a lot of things that you didn’t expect, and you’ll probably find things that you thought you’d lost ages ago. On top of that little bonus, you’ll also have a car that’s cleaner, clearer, and more comfortable, and a few moments of work (because that’s probably all it’s going to take in reality) is well worth that result.

Cleaning The Car’s Interior

Once the clutter and rubbish is all gone, a proper clean tends to make a massive difference, and although it might not be your favourite thing to do, the fact is, it can be pretty therapeutic, and the clean, comfortable car you’ll have at the end is a nice reward.

You’ll probably need to vacuum the carpets, wipe down the dashboard, clean the windows from the inside, and deal with all those little patches of dust that build up in places you might normally ignore. Doing all that can completely change how the car feels to be in, and although it might not get to brand new standards, it’ll come quite close if you do a good job. Why is it worth doing? It’s because when the interior of the car feels clean, you’ll probably take better care of it, so it’ll take longer to get messy again.

Don’t Forget The Outside

The exterior of the car is another place where you’re going to find that just driving around or even just having the car sit on the driveway or road is going to leave a mark. The fact is that rain, dust, general road grime, and the occasional encounter with bird droppings among loads of other things are going to build up over time, and because you see the car every day, you’ll probably stop noticing the issue is happening at all.

Giving the car a proper wash and polish can bring back a lot of that lovely shine it used to have, and you’ll see the colour looks brighter, the bodywork feels smoother, and the whole thing suddenly looks a lot more looked after, which is a good sign. And you don’t even have to do the job yourself if you don’t want to – you can take it to a car wash, hire someone to do it professionally, or even get the kids involved if you want, so there’s really no excuse.

Pay Attention To The Little Things

Something to bear in mind is that a car makeover isn’t just about how it looks, and the practical side of how it all works and drives is important to pay attention to as well.

Take your tyres, for example – they make the car safer, and more comfortable to drive, and they’ll even have a bearing on how fuel efficient it is, but they’re really easy to just forget about because there are other things to think about.

That’s why it’s a good idea to regularly check the condition of your tyres and replace them when they start to get worn down, and to make that job even easier, you can organise mobile tyre fitting so you can replace the tyres wherever you are and you don’t have to take time out of your day to go somewhere to get it done.

Making The Space Work Better

Another part of refreshing a car involves thinking about how the space is actually used, and make better use of it.

For example, a car boot can often become a storage area for all kinds of things, from reusable shopping bags to sports equipment and emergency supplies, and so on, and if it’s not organised properly, it’s easy for everything to just end up all piled together in a big mess that no one wants to deal with. But if you just add a simple storage box or boxes it’s going to make the space a lot easier to manage, and that means you’ll be able to find things more quickly and stop the boot (and potentially the rest of the car) from filling up with clutter again.

Why Small Changes Feel So Good

The best thing about giving your car any kind of makeover is that there’s not that much work involved when you really think about it, and anything you do is basically just a small change that has a big impact.

You just have to clean out some rubbish, wipe things down, and take the car to a car wash, and you’ll automatically have a vehicle that looks and feels so much better – driving might even become more enjoyable again, and at the very least, sitting in traffic will be a bit less painful.

Final Thoughts

The good news is that most cars don’t need huge upgrades to make them better, and just giving them a little bit of attention can be all it takes – and that’s not hard for anyone to do.
