Money Saving Monday: 3 Ways I Saved Money Last Week (14/01/19)

Happy Monday everyone. Here’s three things I did last week to save money. First one of these I have done in a while, hopefully I will keep it up every Monday in 2019 as I find it a really good tool to help me focus on how to cut costs. Here are the previous posts in this series: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

  1. My daughter has a lot of her friends’ birthday parties coming up over the coming week. I have stocked up on various presents in the Argos 2 for £15 offer on toys – this will save me money as I usually buy something at the last minute which adds a lot of stress to my life, as well as costing more. There are some toys in the offer that cost £13 if you just buy one so when you buy two you are saving £11. I also went to Next to stock up on birthday cards for the upcoming parties – they have lovely cards for only £1 and they run a 4 for 3 offer so when you are buying in bulk they work out at only 75p each. Bargain!
  2.  I made another batch of frozen sandwiches for the kids – no need to make another sandwich for another month or so, phew!
  3. My son was kindly given a train set for Christmas so I started looking for a train table to set it up on. I quickly found that they were very expensive. However, I was extremely fortunate in that someone on my local Facebook selling page was giving one away for free! A similar one still retails for £150. It just goes to show that it’s always worth trying to buy (or even better, get for free) something second hand if you can. Here it is:

  1. Great find with the table! I believe 2nd hand is better too. #MMBC

  2. It never ceases to amaze me what you can find second hand. Once got perfectly good double glazed windows for a shed we were building. Absolutely free. #MMBC

  3. What a brilliant find with the train table. Facebook selling sites and Gumtree can be great for things like this.
